2016 Lagoon 450 S ‘Perseverance Too’: A Turn-Key World Cruiser

With 3,300 watts of solar, twin watermakers and a dedicated dive station, this owner-loved catamaran is ready to slip the dock lines.

Mike Rybas of The Multihull Company welcomes us aboard S/V Perseverance Too, a 2016 Lagoon 450 S set up with the systems — and the sails — for extended off-grid cruising. From the moment you step aboard, it’s clear the previous owners invested in the details that matter to voyagers who actually go.

Energy independence is the headline. More than 3,300 watts of solar feed a Victron charge-controlled system, backed up by a low-hour generator. Freshwater is equally redundant, with a new SeaWater Pro watermaker paired with a Spectra 12-volt unit — so hoses stay coiled and tanks stay full.

Sails and Rig

The sail wardrobe is built for trade-wind miles: a fully battened mainsail, a roller-furling jib, a Code Zero on a continuous-line furler, and an asymmetric spinnaker in a sock. All standing rigging — including cap shrouds, forestay, martingale, diamonds and turnbuckles — was replaced by Annapolis Rigging in 2022. Ground tackle is equally serious, with a new Maxwell windlass, 300 feet of 1/2-inch galvanized chain, and a Rocna primary backed by Fortress and Mantus hooks.

Living Aboard

The elevated helm is a Lagoon 450 S signature — excellent sightlines and three Harken electric winches at hand, yet still socially connected to the cockpit below. Belowdecks, the starboard hull is a dedicated owner’s suite with a large berth, work and storage space, and a forward head with walk-in shower. Two port-side guest cabins each have private heads and showers.

Diver-Ready Extras

The forward locker has been converted into a purpose-built dive station, complete with an onboard compressor and three full sets of scuba gear. And for shore runs — or reef exploration — there’s a 12’6″ Go-Deuce center-console tender with a 60 hp Tohatsu outboard, and a soft rub rail wrapping the hulls to protect the mothership on the come-alongside.
