A blue-water-ready NEEL 51 with carbon rig, 1,200Ah lithium bank, and one of the most complete option lists we've seen on the model.
The NEEL 51 has quickly become one of the most talked-about performance trimarans in the cruising world, and S/V Out Of The Woods may be the most thoroughly outfitted example on the water. Walking us through her in Annapolis, listing broker Andrew Hodgdon and Karl Reed of The Multihull Company make the case that this 2022 build takes an already exceptional platform and pushes it to its full potential.
Built for Comfort, Wired for Cruising
Step through the roughly 12-foot-wide sliding glass doors and the salon opens up into a genuinely single-level living space. Panoramic windows flood the interior with light, while the circular galley offers unusually generous countertop and storage — outfitted with an induction cooktop, convection oven, dishwasher, and ample refrigeration. Overhead and forward-facing hatches keep the space ventilated even on hot anchorages.
The forward-facing nav station is equipped to run the boat from inside, pairing a large B&G chartplotter with a masthead-mounted FLIR infrared camera and forward-looking sonar — a serious setup for night watches and foul-weather passages.

The Trimaran Advantage
Resin-infused carbon-fiber-reinforced construction gives the NEEL 51 the stability, speed, and comfort that define the design. But one of the platform’s real party tricks is the enormous tech space with standing headroom in the central hull, providing walk-in access to the watermaker, genset, water heaters, air conditioning chilled loops, the 1,200 amp-hour lithium battery bank, and the 110-hp Volvo diesel engine. It’s the kind of engineering access that owners of long-legged cruisers will immediately appreciate.
Accommodations sleep up to eight, with the signature deck-level master suite offering views and convenience you simply can’t get on a catamaran. Every guest cabin has its own en-suite head with separate shower, and the boat carries LED accent lighting, air conditioning throughout, and two washing machines.

Sail Plan and Deck
On deck, the flush layout gives plenty of room for working sails or lounging, with large storage lockers in both amas accessed from the cockpit and the dinghy secured on fixed chocks. The starboard helm keeps sightlines and control together, with all lines led aft to three electric winches, a 16-inch B&G chartplotter, autohelm, bow thruster, and windlass control with chain counter.
A 2,800-watt flush-deck solar array keeps the lithium bank topped up. Aloft, an Axxon Composites carbon-fiber mast and composite standing rigging carry a Hydranet sail wardrobe — self-tacking jib, oversized genoa, asymmetrical spinnaker, and a Parasailor for downwind trades running.
The cockpit itself is set up for entertaining, with a wet bar, built-in ice maker, and plancha grill making the transition from sailing to sundowners effortless.
