A heavily-upgraded, ARC-tested owner's-version Outremer 51 with carbon structural options and a full lithium-solar-Starlink stack.
Few production catamarans command the respect of the Outremer 51, and fewer still arrive on the market as thoroughly prepared for serious ocean miles as S/V HELIA2. Presented by Will Miller of The Multihull Company, this 2022 owner’s-version Outremer 51 is US duty paid and has already logged the kind of passages many buyers spend years planning — a Mediterranean season, an ARC Atlantic crossing, and extensive cruising through the Caribbean and US East Coast.
What sets HELIA2 apart from a standard 51 begins in her structure. She was specified with two of Outremer’s most significant premium options: carbon fiber bulkheads and a composite compression beam. Paired with the yard’s optimized foam-core construction, protective sail-drive skegs, and the Barreau-Neuman hull lines, these choices deliver the stiffness-to-weight ratio that makes an Outremer feel alive underway.

Sail Plan and Handling
The sail wardrobe from Incidence Sails is built around Hydranet cloth: a square-top main, genoa, and self-tacking staysail on a removable stay for heavier conditions. Downwind, a Code D gennaker and a 145-square-meter heavy-air spinnaker cover the full wind range. Electric Harken winches keep short-handed sailing manageable, and both the headsail UV covers and stack pack have been recently refreshed.
Power, Water, and Connectivity
Energy autonomy is where this boat has been most extensively developed. A hybrid lithium architecture blends Mastervolt and Victron components, anchored by a dedicated 24-volt lithium bank added in 2025 and an Arco high-output alternator. Over 1,300 watts of solar — including davit-mounted panels and freshly replaced Solbian bimini panels — feed the system, backed by dual inverters, DC-DC chargers, and worldwide shore-power compatibility.
Fresh water comes from a 100 L/hr Dessalator watermaker with Seagull filtration at the galley. For communications, a 2024 Starlink V4 installation runs alongside PredictWind DataHub, Iridium GO!, a Peplink 5G router, and remote monitoring via Roam. Navigation is B&G-centric — Zeus MFD, Triton displays, Halo radar, autopilot — with a Raymarine tiller pilot for offshore redundancy.

Living Aboard
The owner’s-version layout dedicates a full hull to the owner while leaving two guest cabins for family or friends. The salon is bright and panoramic, with a convertible table and a forward stateroom that also converts to expand sleeping arrangements. Climate control includes 16,000 BTU Dometic air conditioning (inverter-capable) and a five-zone Webasto diesel heating system. The galley is genuinely equipped for extended cruising: Isotherm fridge and freezer, a Dometic cockpit fridge/freezer, three-burner propane cooktop, gas oven, induction burner, Magma grill, and an espresso machine on Corian counters.
Outside, a full Eisenglass cockpit enclosure creates all-weather living space, and a bow sunshade turns the trampolines into a second lounge. Ground tackle — a Spade anchor with 70 m of new chain, Maxwell windlass with wireless controls, and a Fortress secondary — matches the offshore intent, as does the safety kit: 8-person liferaft, EPIRB, jacklines, Lifesling, medical kit, and ditch bag. A Highfield tender with a Honda 20 hp handles shore runs.
Market Context
The Outremer 51 remains a tightly held model. Recent brokerage data shows just two comparable examples sold in the last 24 months and two currently active listings.

For a buyer who wants to skip the two-year refit cycle and start cruising, HELIA2 is a rare turnkey proposition: proven miles, premium structural options, and a systems package specified by sailors who actually use them.
