A Great Loop–friendly power cat with three cabins, 22-knot legs and a family's worth of Mediterranean and Bahamian miles already behind her.
Some boats are easier to understand once you’ve walked them, and the 2021 Fountaine Pajot MY4.S M/Y Vie Pure is one of them. In her video walkthrough, broker Caroline Laviolette makes the case simply: this is a sporty, stable, nimble power catamaran from a builder that has been producing powercats for more than 25 years and sailing cats for almost 50. The name translates to “Pure Life” — not a bad philosophy for a cruising boat.
Built for the Loop — and the shallows
Two numbers do a lot of work here. Air draft is 13 feet, which keeps her clear for the Great Loop, and draft is just 2 feet 6 inches, which opens up the kind of gunkholing most 37-footers can only watch from the channel. Top speed is around 22 knots.
The tour starts forward, where the foredeck carries adjustable lounge pads, then moves aft to a fully enclosed cockpit in natural teak with seating for seven around a lounge and dining table, plus an incorporated grill. A triple slider opens into the salon — a genuine 360-degree view space with a longitudinal galley: double stainless sink, two-burner induction cooktop, Bosch convection microwave and an under-counter fridge, with an additional freezer in the starboard hull.

The protected helm is fitted with Garmin electronics and an ergonomic double helm chair with adjustable bolsters, plus a companion seat — a detail that matters on long passages. The salon’s convertible dinette raises, lowers and expands, doing duty as both dining table and coffee table.
Three cabins, two heads
The port hull is given over to a full-beam master with an island queen aft, a lounge settee, panoramic windows, a separate shower, a fresh water electric flush head, and storage throughout — including a linen locker and dedicated wardrobe. To starboard, the head and shower sit midships (again fresh water electric flush), with a double forward cabin and an island queen aft cabin, both bright and airy with panoramic windows, lockers and cabinetry.

Machinery and range
Upgraded 250-horsepower Yanmar diesels are the headline in the engineering section. Caroline Laviolette cites 3 to 4 gallons per hour at about 8 knots, rising to 15 to 20 gph at 20 knots, with a range of 1,000 nautical miles at 1,400 RPM. Supporting systems include an 8 kW generator in a sound shield, a 2,000-watt inverter/charger and a watermaker. She carries four-blade props with line cutters and had fresh bottom paint in mid-May. The stepped hull adds lift while reducing wetted surface and drag — more speed, more efficiency, and built-in trim for a steadier ride. Aft, a hydraulic swim platform handles the tender.
Vie Pure has been owned by a family with children who have cruised her in the Mediterranean, the Bahamas and along the Eastern Seaboard — a boat that has done the miles rather than sat on them.

With just one MY4.S on the market, there isn’t much of a comparison set — which is worth keeping in mind either way.
