Aboard Ocean Vibes: A 2020 Sunreef 70 Built for Living Outside

Four distinct dining venues, a telescoping swim platform and three coffee machines — the crew of this Caribbean-based catamaran show what a Sunreef 70 feels like in service.

Some walkthroughs are led by a broker with a clipboard. This one is led by the people who actually live aboard. Captain Glenn, Chef Alex and stewardess Lindsay open the tour of Ocean Vibes, a 2020 Sunreef 70 listed by Staley Weidman, and the difference shows: instead of a spec recital, you get a tour of how the boat is used, day in and day out, in the Virgin Islands.

Four venues, one deck plan

Glenn’s organizing idea for the exterior is simple and surprisingly persuasive — the Sunreef 70 gives you four separate places to sit down and eat. The first is the cockpit, with its substantial table and a bar set up alongside for custom liquor orders and cold beer. It’s the space he expects guests to default to, and it’s easy to see why: alfresco dining, shade, and the water a few steps away.

Those steps lead down to a large telescoping swim platform, which doubles as the boat’s social waterline. Chairs go out, magnetic drink holders keep glasses put, and the conversation carries on between the platform and whoever is already in the water. The toy locker is well stocked — SUPs, a two-man kayak that also works solo, and a dinghy with a 100-horsepower outboard rigged for water skiing, wakeboarding, wake skating and tubing.

Walking forward, Glenn makes a point that matters more than it sounds: the gunwales are wide and the lifelines are high, so moving around the boat under way feels secure. The bow is the second venue — cushions on the forepeaks, a tightly woven trampoline mesh that’s comfortable to lie on and won’t swallow a phone, and a forward terrace that he pitches as the late-afternoon appetizer or morning coffee spot. The foredeck is flat and open enough to double as a gym; yoga and exercise mats are aboard, and Lindsay is a certified personal trainer and yoga instructor.

A genuinely clever detail: a forward terrace door lets you walk straight from the bow through the saloon and out to the cockpit without going around the coachroof. Inside, the saloon table and Dedon-style chairs form the third venue — the one for inclement weather or a properly elegant air-conditioned dinner.

The flybridge as a second boat

Glenn’s assessment of the flybridge — “almost another whole boat unto itself” — reads as fair. It holds the navigation station, the fourth dining venue (handy when the grill is going), another cooler, and a large aft sun-lounging area with room for the whole group. He sells it hardest as an after-dinner space: shade by day, stargazing by night.

Inside: three cabins, and a coffee bar

Chef Alex takes the interior. The saloon is spacious, with dedicated storage for snacks and games, a wine fridge, a 56-inch TV for movie nights, and a compact navigation station. Her favorite feature is the coffee setup: three machines — drip for the morning, Nespresso for the afternoon, and a specialty machine for cappuccinos and lattes.

The guest accommodation shown is three cabins — starboard forward, starboard mid and port mid — all similar in size with small variations. The forward cabin has a closet on each side; both mid cabins have walk-in closets. Every cabin has a safe, and every head shown has a full-size shower with storage behind the windows and under the sink. Dimmable lighting runs throughout the boat. Toiletries, extra pillows and blankets are all part of the service standard the crew describes.

Where the model sits

The Sunreef 70 is a thinly traded boat, which is part of its appeal. A snapshot of current site activity:

What the video conveys best is that Ocean Vibes is a boat already dialed in for guests — crewed, provisioned, toy-equipped and running charters in the Virgin Islands. For a buyer weighing a 70-foot catamaran, that’s a useful thing to see: not an empty hull, but a working one.
