Aboard S/V Cameo: A Lived-In 2015 Leopard 48 Tour

A quick walkthrough reveals the small, thoughtful upgrades that turn a production catamaran into a full-time home on the water.

Some boat tours are staged. This one isn’t. Filmed on June 26 with a crew mate along as co-host, the walkthrough of S/V Cameo, a 2015 Leopard 48, is the kind of video that tells you more than a spec sheet ever could — because it’s the owner pointing out the things they actually changed after living aboard.

A saloon set up for real life

The tour opens at the large indoor dining table, which the owner candidly admits is “a little awkward to get around” at full size — so it’s normally kept in its smaller configuration, leaving a comfortable path around the settee. Nearby are two small but telling additions: a GFCI outlet that isn’t standard on stock boats, and a shelving extension built out in marine board. The breaker panel sits alongside a monitoring system showing water tank levels (forward tank nearly full at the time of filming), solar production and a battery bank close to fully charged. A Roku TV pairs with Starlink for streaming, and the nav station hides a lift-up panel with a storage bin and two radios.

Forward, a door leads to the bow cockpit — the owner’s pick when the aft deck is sunny, when you want fresh air, or when you simply need to “get away from children.” It’s a genuinely useful second outdoor living space on this platform.

Galley and accommodations

The galley gets the same treatment: added shelving to support more appliances, a large lazy susan, and a generous stovetop. In place of an oven there’s a double storage area, with cooking duties handed to an outdoor grill; the microwave slot has likewise been converted to more stowage, and there’s a good spot for an ice maker. A whiteboard and mirrors on both sides round out the practical touches.

Cabin count is described as “four and a half or five bedrooms” — the extra forward space was the crew mate’s berth, but move the pillows, close the door and it locks off as a dedicated storage hatch. Every cabin has fans, and there are four heads aboard.
