Fountaine Pajot Lipari 41: Effortless Miles, Easy Living

A 2015 Joubert-Nivelt–designed cruising catamaran built for gentle passages and gracious life aboard.

Step aboard S/V Before Sunrise, a 2015 Fountaine Pajot Lipari 41 that captures what so many buyers look for in a mid-size cruising catamaran: an easy motion at sea, a sociable layout above deck, and the kind of accommodation that turns long passages into extended holidays. Drawn by the respected Joubert-Nivelt design firm, the Lipari 41 sits low and light on the water, taking waves gently and moving swiftly under sail.

The integrated helm station is the boat’s operational heart. Every line and control leads back to the raised helm, so a single sailor can trim, reef, and maneuver without leaving the wheel. The dual helm seat is comfortable enough to share, and the sightlines — helped by Fountaine Pajot’s signature Swedish balconies forward — are excellent.

Cockpit and Galley on One Level

The cockpit seats up to eight for lunch beneath a sturdy hardtop canopy, and it flows onto the same level as the galley with no bulkhead step between them — a small detail that transforms entertaining and daily living. Inside, the galley is well kitted out with an oven and Fountaine Pajot’s clever piano-hinged fridge, and there’s genuinely useful storage throughout. A modern, forward-facing navigation station keeps the skipper connected without isolating them from the saloon.

Owner’s Version or Twin Cabins

The Lipari 41 was offered in two interior configurations. The twin-cabin layout features comfortable guest cabins with 160 cm queen berths, a proper head, and ample stowage. The owner’s version dedicates an entire hull to the master suite — a double bed, a lounge area, and a full bathroom with cupboards and a separate shower stall that genuinely feels like home.

The Lipari 41 has a loyal following, and recent activity reflects that. Seven have sold in the last 24 months at a median of $305,000, and buyer interest has picked up noticeably in the past month.

By Chris Rundlett

Chris Rundlett’s first sailing adventure was on a small Sunfish owned by the U.S. Coast Guard where his father was stationed in North Dakota. There was plenty of wind – but not much water! Since then he dreamed of bigger horizons and sailed whenever he had the chance. Chris is a true son of a sailor. Chris started his maritime career teaching USCG Captains Licensing courses in the Pacific Northwest. This lead to teaching sailing in the San Juan Islands of Washington State. In 2008, Chris started working with a sailing school in the Caribbean – St. Vincent and the Grenadines. He enjoyed sailing in these exquisite waters so much, he decided to stay. In 2013, Chris started the premier American Sailing Association affiliate school in the Caribbean, LTD Sailing – “Living the Dream!”, with his partner Chrystal Young. They have now opened a second location in the Grenadines at the Port Louis Marina, Grenada partnering with The Multihull Company and Five Oceans Marine Group. Chris and Chrystal found that many of their sailing school students were interested in buying boats – making this a natural partnership. Grenada is a great cruising destination with its southerly latitude, excellent marine services and active cruising community. Please call Chris or Chrystal if you would like to discuss the advantages of buying or selling your yacht in the Caribbean. Stop by the office at Prickly Bay Marina to say ‘Hi’ next time you are in Grenada!
