Aboard S/V Cameo: A Lived-In 2015 Leopard 48 Tour

Some boat tours are staged. This one isn’t. Filmed on June 26 with a crew mate along as co-host, the walkthrough of S/V Cameo, a 2015 Leopard 48, is the kind of video that tells you more than a spec sheet ever could — because it’s the owner pointing out the things they actually changed after living aboard. A saloon set up for real life The tour opens at the large indoor dining table, which the owner candidly admits is “a little awkward to get around” at full size — so it’s normally kept in its smaller configuration, leaving a comfortable path around the settee.…

Aboard S/V Cameo: A Cruise-Ready 2015 Leopard 48

Filmed in June 2026 from a mooring ball at Dinner Key Marina in Miami, this walkthrough of S/V Cameo has the unmistakable feel of a boat that gets used. Broker Joe’s tour of the 2015 Leopard 48 skips the brochure language and instead points out the details that matter when there are guests, kids and gear aboard. Living space built for a crowd The saloon table is sized for eight to ten, and the owners report seating nine comfortably — useful context for anyone imagining family and friends piling on.…

Aboard S/V Vela: A Cruise-Ready 2008 Leopard 40

Some walkthroughs sell a floor plan; this one sells a cruising plan. In a brisk tour of S/V Vela, a 2008 Leopard 40, the emphasis lands squarely on the systems that let a couple or family stay out longer — power, water, refrigeration and storage — rather than on cosmetics. Decks and ground tackle Boarding from the port side, the tour moves forward across a spacious foredeck with two storage lockers plus the anchor locker. Vela carries the older-style Leopard louvered steps, which make climbing to the coach roof and hardtop straightforward and secure.…

Aboard S/V Dandelion: A Lived-In 2002 Leopard 47

Some boat tours sell you a showroom. This one, filmed aboard S/V Dandelion, a 2002 Leopard 47 listed by John, shows you a catamaran that has been genuinely lived aboard — and adapted accordingly. The walkthrough starts on the sugar scoop and works forward and down, and almost every stop reveals a practical decision made by owners who cruise rather than daysail. Aft deck, davits and cockpit The tour opens with two dive bottle racks under waterproof covers and a removable dive rail for getting off the back of the boat.…

Inside S/V La Vida Shred, a 2014 Leopard 48 Built for Family Cruising

There are boat tours, and then there are boat tours delivered by someone who has already spent years tied up alongside the vessel in question. That is the situation with S/V La Vida Shred, a 2014 Leopard 48 now on the market, presented by Brandon of The Cruisers Company — who, along with Amber, cruised for four years with four kids and buddy-boated with this very catamaran across thousands of miles when she sailed under the name Exodus. “We spent many a nights hanging out back here, having conversations,” Brandon says from the aft cockpit, admitting the nostalgia is running high.…

2013 Leopard 48 S/V Aloha: A Liveaboard-Ready Catamaran

Some cruising catamarans leave the factory ready for charter weeks; others get quietly reworked, season by season, by owners who actually live aboard. S/V Aloha, a 2013 Leopard 48, falls firmly into the second camp. In the walkthrough, Brandon Morse and Amber of The Cruisers Company set the tone straight away: the story here isn’t just the layout, it’s the upgrades. “Every space has been thoughtfully upgraded to make more space, more storage,” they explain, before promising a quick tour focused on the modifications that make the biggest difference when you’re anchored out and living on the hook.…

2007 Leopard 46 ‘S/V Kostenfalle’: A Modernized Bluewater Cat

Few production catamarans have earned the bluewater credentials of the Leopard 46. Designed by Morelli & Melvin and built by Robertson & Caine, the platform has crossed oceans in the hands of both private owners and charter fleets for nearly two decades. In his walkthrough, Captain Will Miller of The Multihull Company introduces S/V Kostenfalle, a 2007 example that has been thoroughly reworked to meet the demands of modern, off-grid cruising. A Refit That Touches Nearly Everything Beginning in 2021, Kostenfalle underwent an extensive refit that reaches into the boat’s core systems.…

2011 Leopard 46 ‘Kindred Spirit’: A Proven Cruising Cat

The Leopard 46 has earned its reputation as one of the most versatile owner-and-charter catamarans of its era, and this 2011 example — S/V Kindred Spirit — is being offered in South Florida by Conor Dugan of The Multihull Company. At 45 feet, she sits in a sweet spot for couples and families who want genuine bluewater capability without stepping up into the running costs of a 50-plus-foot platform. A Broker Who Knows the Boats In his introduction, Conor lays out a background that will resonate with anyone considering a serious cruising catamaran.…

2021 Leopard 53PC ‘Caribbean Dream II’: A Phase-Out Powercat

Ted Reshetiloff of BVI Yacht Sales walks us aboard M/Y Caribbean Dream II, a 2021 Leopard 53 PowerCat tied up at The Moorings base in Tortola. She’s just wrapped her phase-out program — a rigorous sequence of in-water and out-of-water surveys, mechanical inspections, and service on every major system — leaving her in what Ted describes as essentially like-new condition. For anyone shopping this size and layout, that’s the headline: a boat that has been methodically brought back to standard by the fleet operator who ran her.…

2021 Leopard 43 PowerCat ‘Carina’: Turn-Key Cruiser

Few boats manage to feel equally at home crossing open water, transiting the Great Loop, or sitting quietly as a floating waterfront residence. M/Y Carina, a 2021 Leopard 43 PowerCat, was clearly outfitted with all three in mind — and the walkthrough with broker Chuck d’Hemecourt of The Multihull Company makes the case succinctly. Layout Built Around the Owner Carina is configured in the three-cabin owner’s version, dedicating the entire starboard hull to a private owner’s suite. The salon is bright and open, and a forward salon door promotes cross-ventilation to keep the interior cool at anchor.…

S/V WAY MAKER: A 2010 Leopard 38 Ready to Cruise South

When the Leopard 38 debuted in 2010, it earned Best Multihull Cruiser honors from both Sail Magazine and Cruising World. Designed by Morelli & Melvin and built by Robertson and Caine in South Africa, the model has aged into a favorite among owner-operators looking for a manageable, capable cruising cat. S/V WAY MAKER, currently lying in Deal, Maryland, is a thoughtfully updated example, and broker Bill Regan of Catamaran Central walks through her from bow to stern. On Deck The foredeck sets the tone: a newer roller-furling genoa, water tanks to starboard, anchor and windlass with bridle in the center, and a large port-side locker already plumbed for a generator should a future owner want to add one.…

2020 Leopard 45 ‘S/V Minowa’: A Turnkey Bluewater Cat

Few mid-sized catamarans hit the sweet spot between comfort, stability, and passage-making performance quite like the Leopard 45 — and S/V Minowa, a 2020 owner’s-version hull now lying in Charleston, South Carolina, may be one of the more thoughtfully equipped examples on the water. In a walkthrough with YachtSite, broker Michael Wilson of The Multihull Company steps through a boat that has been methodically prepared for extended bluewater cruising, from her sail wardrobe down to her lithium bank. Sailing systems built for real miles Minowa carries a new North Sails mainsail alongside her genoa and an asymmetrical spinnaker flown from a retractable bowsprit — a useful trick in light air.…

Leopard 39 Powercat: M/Y Island Paws, a Capable Cruising Cat

The Leopard 39 Powercat has earned a loyal following among owners who want the stability and space of a catamaran without the rigging of a sailing multihull. M/Y Island Paws, a 2012 example listed by Michelle Ropiza, brings that recipe to market with the poise the model is known for — a wide, walk-around deck plan, a bright saloon that flows to the aft cockpit, and the kind of shallow-draft, twin-engine layout that opens up thin-water cruising grounds from the Bahamas to the Sea of Cortez.…

2020 Leopard 40 Owner’s Version: S/V Kavalea

The Leopard 40 has earned its reputation as one of the most livable cruising catamarans in its size class, and the 2020 S/V Kavalea represents the sought-after Owner’s Version layout — the configuration that trades a fourth cabin for a generous private owner’s suite spanning an entire hull. Listed by Michelle Ropiza, this five-year-old cat offers a compelling entry point into the Leopard family for couples or small families looking to cruise seriously without stepping up to a larger platform. The Owner’s Version Difference Where the standard Leopard 40 splits both hulls into guest cabins, the Owner’s Version dedicates the starboard hull to the owner: a queen island berth, a proper en-suite head with separate shower stall, and stowage that finally feels adequate for extended passages.…

2013 Leopard 48 ‘White Wings’: A Proven Chesapeake Cruiser

Bill Regan of Catamaran Central welcomes us aboard S/V WHITE WINGS, a 2013 Leopard 48 lying just outside Annapolis, Maryland. In the walkthrough, he frames her as a well-outfitted and proven cruiser — a boat that has clearly been lived on, thought about, and steadily improved by an owner who understands what matters offshore. Deck and Cockpits The tour begins where every Leopard tour should — at the signature forward cockpit, with its sliding coach-roof hatch and forward door that pulls a breeze straight through the salon.…

Leopard 42 Review

The Leopard 42 emerged in 2001 to replace the Leopard 45. Designed by Alex Simonis, the L42 extended the lines of the Leopard 38 and offered a 3-cabin, 3-head model and a 4-cabin, 4-head model. Approximately 50 Leopard 42s were made before being replaced by the Leopard 43 in 2004. Despite its heritage of award-winning catamarans, the Leopard 42 won no awards. However, the L42 is still highly sought-after by cruisers worldwide. Let’s look at why. Features Since Leopard announced their next iteration of the Leopard 42 in July 2020, we’ll talk first about the original model and then provide a few words on the updated version.…

Leopard 40 Review and Common Problems

Leopard began their sailing catamaran line-up with a cruise-worthy 45-foot catamaran. When the charter industry took notice, they requested smaller sailing cats for their fleets, so Leopard provided the 38-foot model, as well as a 42-foot model. In 2004, Leopard partnered with designers Morelli & Melvin for their Leopard 40 model. Between 2004 and 2009, Leopard produced 136 Leopard 40s before replacing it with the Leopard 39. Then, in 2014, Leopard engaged with Simonis Voogd Design to launch a newer Leopard 40 model that is still in production today with over 210 vessels produced.…

Leopard 38 Review and Common Problems

Leopard didn’t start small, but rather, began their sailing catamaran line-up with a 45-foot catamaran in 1997 before moving to the Leopard 38 in 1998. All total, they built 124 Leopard 38s. The Leopard 38 (also branded as the Sunsail 384), was designed by Morrelli & Melvin, who have designed some of the fastest multihulls to glide across an ocean. No stranger to design awards, M&M’s Leopard 38 designs won the Cruising World 2010 Boat of the Year in two categories:  Best Multihull Cruiser of the Year, and Best Import Boat of the Year That same year, they won SAIL Magazine’s 2010 Best Boat” in the Cruising Multihull Category.…

Leopard 39 Review and Common Problems

Leopard began their sailing catamaran line-up with a respectable 45-foot catamaran in 1997. Then, seeing a ripe opportunity in the charter industry, they next moved to the Leopard 38 in 1998. In 2010, Leopard announced the 39 model and proceeded to build 126 hulls of that size through 2015. Crafted from the same hull molds as the Leopard 38, the Leopard 39’s main upgrades include the full hardtop over the cockpit and a raised helm station, also covered with a hardtop.…

Leopard 44 Catamaran Review

History / Background South African boat builders Robertson and Caine have built over 2,000 catamarans over the last three decades. The Leopard 44 results from another successful collaboration with American catamaran designers Morrelli & Melvin. The goal was a solid, affordable mid-sized catamaran capable of blue water sailing and good for the charter market. Multiple awards and the boat’s enduring popularity show how well they hit the target. The Leopard 44 starts with a hull construction of vacuum-bagged balsa cored e-glass with vinylester resin.…

Leopard 46 Review: Better than a Lagoon?

Clients often debate about which of the production catamaran brands to purchase. Is there a significant difference between a Fountain-Pajot, Lagoon, and Leopard? After an 11 day delivery of a Leopard 46 from Fort Lauderdale to Cartagena, Colombia and a delivery of a Lagoon 440 in March from Fort Lauderdale to Annapolis, in many respects the Leopard out classed the Lagoon including performance, durability, and comfort. My colleague and super star sailor Kevin Bray lauded the Leopard throughout the delivery. “After working on this boat for 3 months and now sailing her, I can honestly say I like this Leopard 46 design, and there are not a lot of boats that I can say that about,” shared Kevin.…
